Women’s Soccer Picked to Finish Third in Big South Preseason Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference released its 2021 Women's Soccer Preseason Poll Wednesday afternoon with the Highlanders selected to finish third among the conference's eleven members.

A majority of Radford's votes came in the third spot with eight total and only three votes selecting the team to finish lower than that. The team's 95 points were nine higher than fourth-place Longwood and 16 points behind second-place Campbell. High Point was named the preseason favorite with eight first-place votes while Campbell and Hampton also received first place selections.

The Highlanders are an annual member atop the conference's preseason polls, being selected to finish within the predicted top-five now 13 seasons straight. Radford is the only preseason favorite to win the tournament title in the last four seasons with Liberty being the last program to accomplish the feat in 2016.

Radford is scheduled to open Big South play with two road matches against top-four preseason teams Longwood and Campbell. Radford is also scheduled to play High Point on the road in the back-half of the conference slate. The only team to be selected fifth or higher that Radford will host is Gardner-Webb, an exciting rematch between two teams that have battled into overtime and in the playoffs the last couple of seasons.

The fall season is set to kick off in just over a week as the Highlanders will travel to Washington, D.C. for an exhibition with American.
