CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Radford women's golf team moved into sixth place at the 2022 Buccaneer Classic before a storm chased the team off the course near the end of the second round.
Hannah Lindemann,
Jimenna Ramirez,
Natalie Welsh and
Jayde Dudley managed to finish the round while
Shea Smith and
Niki Batac will play the final hole on Tuesday morning before beginning the third round.
Welsh set the tone for the team in the first round, shooting a 2-over par 74. She notched birdies on her first two holes of the day following a shotgun start on Hole 5, and then added another birdie on the 11
th hole. The fifth-year senior didn't fair quite as well in the second round, but did add a pair of birdies to her scorecard.
Lindemann had the best overall day of any Highlander, following up a first-round 79 with a 71 in the second round. It was an incredible second trip through the course as she sunk six birdies to record one of just a few under par rounds in the tournament.
Ramirez was nearly as good, shooting 79 in the first round as well and then carding a 74 in the second round. The Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico native was steady all day thanks to 23 pars and three birdies.
Dudley was the last Highlander to play all 36 holes, posting an 84 in both rounds. Her best moment came on the Par 5 7
th hole, which she birdied her second time around.
Smith's first round ended with an 82 while Batac, who entered the tournament as an individual, was solid with a 79.
