Gareiss Delivers Top 5 Finish at ODU/OBX Intercollegiate

POWELLS POINT, N.C. – Patrick Gareiss stole the show at the 2022 ODU-OBX Intercollegiate this week, shooting a third-round 69 on Tuesday to finish off a top 5 worthy performance for the Radford men's golf team.
The senior carded five more birdies in the final round to bring his total for the tournament to 10. His score line read 75-66-69 (-3), good enough to place 5th out of 83 golfers in the field.
Nicholas Taliaferro shot a 4-over par 75 in the third round, notching a pair of birdies to move into a tie for 41ston the individual leaderboard.
Nathan Piatt was just behind him on the day with a 76, but his day featured a lot more excitement. His five birdies matched Gareiss for the most on the team, but three double bogeys and a triple bogey balanced the scales a bit. He finished in 61st, but was one of two Highlanders to shoot under 80 in all three rounds.
In a nice showing, Bryce Corbett and Bobby Dudeck tied for 69th at +20. With a 76 and a 74 in the last round, respectively, all five Radford golfers shot 76 or better to close out the trip to North Carolina.
Radford's 44 birdies were tied for the fifth-most out of the 16 teams in attendance and they were one of 10 teams to record at least one eagle.
