Rough First Inning All It Takes in Loss Against Omaha

BOX SCORE MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – The Radford softball program fell victim to a rough first inning against Omaha Saturday afternoon and dropped the contest 8-0.

In the first inning the first seven Omaha batters all reached base as the team burst out to an 8-0 lead over Radford. Omaha was able to build the lead on five hits, two walks and an error. From there it was smooth sailing for Radford's pitching as they tossed three straight scoreless frames.

Radford's offense struggled to get going, however, eventually leading to the shutout loss in just five innings of play. Abby Wilson and Cassi Barbato were able to pick up hits for the Highlanders while Jordan Moss, Emily Smith and Taylor Breidt all drew walks.

Up Next
The Highlanders will finish up play at the Florida Spring Games early tomorrow, with two games against Middle Tennessee and Long Island.
