Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Highlanders Down Eagles 1-0 in Final Preseason Exhibition

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer program wrapped up preseason play with a 1-0 victory over American Friday night.
 
The lone goal of the evening came in a wonderful play by the Highlanders. Alexeis Kirnos placed a great corner kick into the box that Helena Willson headed into the back of the net to put Radford out front for good early in the second half.
 
In front of the home crowd, Radford played a deep roster once again with all three goalies on the roster seeing playing time. Jordan Phillips got the starting nod and quickly totaled four saves. Trinity Veras also had a great save in her 21 minutes of play, while freshman Sanam Milani closed things out with a pair of great saves to preserve the shutout.

"I think it was a great test for us today," commented head coach Ben Sohrabi. "American is a really great team. I have a lot of respect for them, so it was a great challenge for our last preseason game. I thought we played well through parts of the game and other parts we've got to focus a bit more. A lot of tight games are decided by set pieces and we scored off a nice set piece tonight."
 
With the preseason now in the review mirror, the Highlanders move on to their regular season opener in just under a week. Radford hosts Concord on Thursday, Aug. 18th with kick off slated for 7 p.m.
