Short Earns First Big South Weekly Honor After Big Goal at Appalachian State

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Lilly Short has been named Big South Freshman of the Week. It is the fourth straight week a Highlander has earned a weekly award.

Short's freshman season with the Highlanders has been an impressive one so far and the conference office solidified that fact with this week's award. In Radford's lone match last week, Short came up big with a goal in the 63^rd minute that proved pivotal in a tying effort. The goal was Short's second of the season and is the most among all the freshmen on the team.

As a team, Radford has taken home conference weekly awards in four straight weeks with Amy Swain and Alexeis Kirnos winning offensive honors over the last three previous weeks. The Highlanders are the only team in the Big South to have earned a weekly award in at least four of the five weeks this season.

Short and the Highlanders open up conference play with two matches this week. Radford opens things up at home with a game against Campbell on Wednesday, September 21^st with kickoff set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+. Radford then goes on the road to play Presbyterian on Saturday, September 24^th with kickoff set for 4 p.m.
