BLACKSBURG, VA. – The Radford women's basketball program fell in a tough game Sunday afternoon at #15 Virginia Tech in an 85-40 final score.
Rough shooting plagued the Highlanders early on as the team quickly fell down 22-4 with only two made shots in the first quarter. Taniya Hanner got the scoring started while Joi Williams also had her first basket of what turned into her best game against a Division I team.
In the second quarter the Highlanders came alive for 18 points including a trio of three-pointers for their best 10 minutes of the afternoon. Ashlyn Traylor-Walker checked in with six straight points including a three-pointer. Maci Rhoades added another three as did Williams to make it a 48-22 deficit at the halftime break.
In the third quarter the offense went cold again as Radford did not make a shot from the floor but did add four points from the free throw line. The offense got back going again in the final frame to shoot a combined 42% but the result went final 85-40 in the Hokies favor.
NOTABLES
Radford returns to the court this Wednesday for their sixth straight game away from the Dedmon Center. Radford matches up with Liberty on December 13th for a 6 p.m. tip in the Liberty Arena.
