Last Friday, members of the Radford men's and women's soccer teams participated in community service at Harding Avenue Elementary School in Blacksburg, Va. The day included a wide range of fun activities, including reading books to the kids and playing games.
The service was part of an effort to reach out to the local community and to impact the lives of young children in the New River Valley, using student-athletes as role models.
"I would like to thank Principal Sizemore, who is a Highlander, for letting the men's and women's soccer players come to Harding Elementary," said Radford head coach
Chris Barrett. "We had a great morning interacting with the kids in their P.E. classes. We had fun doing soccer relays playing small side of games and reading some books about famous soccer players. This was a great opportunity for our student athletes to do some community service and hopefully have a positive impact in their lives.
