SNOW HILL, N.C. – It was a superb day on the course for the Radford men's golf team, which is in second place following one round of play at the 2023 Cutter Creek Intercollegiate presented by Dogwood State Bank.

The Highlanders were able to start six players in this tournament, with the top four scores combining for a 289 on the first day of a three-day gauntlet in North Carolina. Radford's +1 as a team sits only behind Jacksonville State, which shot a 282 (-6) in its first 18 holes.

No team in the field was better on Par 5's as Radford averaged just 4.71 strokes on those holes to add a healthy -7 to their score.

Bryce Corbett paced the squad with a 2-under par 70, racking up a field-leading six birdies and an eagle that occurred on the 11^th hole. He shot +2 on the front nine but more than made up for it with a -4 on the back nine.

As we've become accustomed to this season, Nathan Piatt joined Corbett in the top-10 by shooting even in the first round. His 16 pars were tied for the most in the field.

Coming back extremely strong after not playing at the Sea Palms Invitational last time out was Bobby Dudeck. The junior fired off four birdies to shoot +1 and head into the second round tied for 12^th.

Patrick Gareiss rounded out the scoring with a +2 thanks to a trip of birdies, including two that came on his very first and very last holes of the day.

A 3-over par, Nick Taliaferro came in just behind his teammates while also sinking three birdies in the round.

Making his first start since the Elon Phoenix Invitational back in October, Channing Blevins was solid with a 6-over par 78.
