Highlanders Battle Elements In Second Round of Cutter Creek Intercollegiate

SNOW HILL, N.C. – With sporadic rain and extremely strong winds moving through the region, the Radford men's golf team battled through the elements to shoot a +21 in round two of the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate on Saturday, moving into fourth place.

The Highlanders shot a 309 combined this time out, facing the highs and lows that come in competitive tournaments like this one. At +22 overall, they will head into the third and final round two strokes away from a podium finish and 16 strokes off the leaders.

Now tied for third place, Bryce Corbett followed up his first-round -2 with a +2 over the next 18 holes. He added a pair of birdies on the third and 13^th holes, bringing his tally to eight overall – the second-most in the field.

Nathan Piatt and Bobby Dudeck each shot 6-over par this time out, moving into ties for 18^th and 23^rd, respectively. Piatt got off to a tough start with two bogeys and a double bogey in his first four holes, but bounced back in a big way with back-to-back birdies to right the ship. Dudeck also had back-to-back birdies, also recording them on the 5^th and 6^th holes.

Nicholas Taliaferro posted his two birdies on the 2^nd and 3^rd holes today, ending the day +7 and tied for 36^th. His performance gave the Highlanders four golfers with scores in the 70's on Saturday.

Channing Blevins (+9) and Patrick Gareiss (+11) carded one birdie each and are now tied for 51^st and tied for 59^th in the tournament.

Radford continues to be the best team in the field on Par 5's with a 4.96 stroke average. Their 29 combined birdies is third, trailing only Jacksonville State and Elon.
