RADFORD, Va. — The Radford baseball team led for a majority of the contest, but were unable to contain an ETSU rally in the late innings as they fell to the Buccaneers 9-3 on Tuesday evening at Carter Memorial Stadium.
Left fielder
Zack Whitacre had a fine day for the Highlanders, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and six total bases. In the first inning, Whitacre got the scoring started with a solo home run to center field, putting his team ahead 1-0.
In the third, the senior tacked on a sacrifice fly to drive in right fielder
Paul Moore. He also added a double in the sixth, and came around to score on a wild pitch to put his team ahead 3-1.
RHP
Landon Higgerson got the start for Radford (8-34), tossing two scoreless innings. For Higgerson, it was his nation-leading 27th appearance of the season.
ETSU (18-20) took a commanding lead in the eighth inning with a six-run outburst. Cameron Sisneros led the way for the Buccaneers with a 3-for-5 night.
Derek McCarley earned the win for the visitors, tossing three scoreless frames.
Foster Seitz took the loss for Radford.

Radford will gear up for another Big South series as they travel to Longwood this weekend. Friday's first pitch is set for 6 p.m., with the game being streamed on ESPN+.
