WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Radford women's soccer program got the Fall 2023 preseason started Sunday night in an exhibition match at William & Mary that ended in a 3-0 final in the host's favor. 26 Highlanders saw action in the team's first full 90 minutes of action in the summer heat.
The Highlanders starting 11 featured some familiar names from the 2022 campaign as
Jordan Phillips,
Paige Olson,
June Stevens,
Helena Willson,
Kayla Edwards,
Alexeis Kirnos,
Katelyn O'Donnell and
Amy Swain all got the starting nod. Olson, Stevens and Edwards all marked shots in the opening half of the game.
Ava Kertgate marked the lone freshman in the starting lineup while
Elyse Beaudry and
Jadyn Noel also saw 30+ minutes of play.
Off the bench, freshman
Hunter Rosenberg marked a shot on the score sheet in her first 30 minutes of collegiate play.
Lexi Radvanyi,
Eileen Albers,
Haley Blake,
Caitlyn Nottingham, and
Amara Gleaves all also made their first appearances for Radford.
Emily Pendleton subbed in for 45+ minutes off the bench with
Skyler Prosser and
Ashley Pandelides also coming off the bench for a third of the game. After leading the nation in corner kicks last season, Radford showed a similar look with four corners on the night.
The Highlanders have a week before their next preseason contest as the team will return to Cupp Stadium to host Concord on August 13th at 7 p.m. Admission is free, and will be free for the entire regular season, as the Highlander faithful can get one last preseason look at the team before regular season play kicks off on August 17th at home against Emory & Henry.
