BURLINGTON, N.C. – For the first time since 2010 the Radford women's golf team has emerged from a tournament as champions, winning the 2023 Elon Women's Invitational after shooting a program-record 291-289-284—864 at Alamance Country Club.
 
This is the second team title of the Jeff Beeler era, and the first since the Highlanders shot 610 across two rounds to win the Winthrop Fall Tournament on October 2-3, 2010.
 
A score of 864 absolutely shatters the previous 54-hole record for the program, besting 904 which was done twice, including last week at the William & Mary Fall Invitational.
 
Macy Johnson continues her incredible debut season, earning individual champion honors as well. The true freshman from Salem, Va. topped the leaderboard with a 73-70-68—211 on her scorecard.


 
Fellow freshman Grace Addison (217) was next up for Radford, while Hannah Lindemann (220) and Shea Smith (221) were close behind.
 
Mckenzie Weddle had a huge third round, bouncing back from a first-round 80 and second-round 77 with a fantastic 70 over her final 18 holes to finish with a score of 227.
 
Caroline Gilreath once again played as an individual, using 231 strokes in her three rounds of action in Burlington.

The Highlanders get a deserved two-week break before hitting the road to Greensboro, N.C. for the UNCG Fall Invitational. The tournament, which will be played at Forest Oaks Country Club, is set for Monday, October 9 and Tuesday, October 10.
