Radford Men’s and Women’s Basketball Adds Baker as Director of Scouting and Analytics for 2025-26 Season

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's and women's basketball programs announced Wednesday afternoon that Brady Baker will be joining the programs as a data analyst for the upcoming 2025-26 season.

Born and raised in Edinburg, Va., in the Shenandoah Valley, Baker returns to Virginia with over seven years of experience in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and most recently served as the Manager of Basketball Data Science for the Indiana Pacers for the past four seasons.

While in Indiana, Baker installed analytical processes on both the front office and coaching side to help the Pacers to two straight Eastern Conference Finals and their first NBA Finals appearance since 2000 last season. During his tenure in Indiana, Baker worked for a prestigious NBA staff that included Head Coach Rick Carlisle and President of Basketball Operations Kevin Pritchard. Baker assisted in all aspects of the basketball department including draft scouting, free agency, coaching gameplans, and more using modern data science and analytics.

"Having worked alongside Brady for three years in Indiana, I was blown away by his ability to build a thorough process that served as a distinct competitive advantage for the organization," commented Radford men's basketball head coach Zach Chu. "Our quest under Kevin Pritchard and Rick Carlisle to create a differentiating approach using analytics to optimize both personnel selection and game strategy started with Brady's execution of player modeling and evaluations. I am very excited to work shoulder to shoulder with him once again here at Radford as we work to build a data-driven approach that I believe will develop sustainable success through an unpredictable time in college athletics"

"The landscape of college basketball demands constant evolving and detail in game strategy and planning," commented Radford women's basketball head coach Mike McGuire. "Analytics are forcing coaches to evaluate all aspects of the game more than ever. I am thrilled that Brady is joining the program. His experience in the NBA and analytics will provide invaluable insight to our coaching staff. Having someone who is dedicated and passionate with analytics on a daily basis will help elevate both programs in many ways. I look forward to working with and learning from Brady."

Prior to his role with the Pacers, Baker worked three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs as a Basketball Analytics Assistant. While in San Antonio, Baker learned under one of the most illustrious front office and coaching staffs in the NBA under Gregg Popovich, R.C. Buford, and Brian Wright.

Before his time in San Antonio, Baker had stops with the Indiana Pacers and Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL) in both analytics and scouting intern roles.

Baker graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor's degree in Statistics in 2018 and worked on analytics projects for both the baseball and basketball team while in Raleigh, N.C.
