KEY STORYLINES
Last Time Out: The Highlanders pulled off an improbable victory on Thursday, December 4, rallying from down 17 points in the third quarter to knock off Navy, 97-84, in double overtime at the Dedmon Center. Joi Williams led the rally with an astounding 36-point performance, including a clutch game-tying three-pointer to force a second overtime. It was the most points scored by a Radford player since Shannan Wilkey on February 20, 1994, vs. UNC Greensboro. Per ESPN's win probability, Radford had just a 1.5 percent chance of victory in the first overtime and a 1.6 percent chance down 16 points with 1:53 remaining in the third quarter. The victory kept the Highlanders unbeaten at home this season and put them back above the .500 mark.

What a Joi: Williams was an easy choice for the Big South, who named the preseason all-conference first team member the Player of the Week on Monday. It was her first Big South Player of the Week award and fourth weekly conference award of her career, after winning freshman of the week several times during the 2023-24 campaign. The junior's performance also received recognition from the NCAA March Madness women's basketball account, recognizing her elite performance. (46-57)

In the Details: With Thursday's triumph, the Highlanders improve to 5-0 at the Dedmon Center…6-2 against non-power opponents…1-1 in overtime games…2-4 when opponent scores 60 or more points…1-4 when trailing at halftime…4-2 when making more 3-pointers than opponent…5-2 when controlling points in the paint…5-1 when recording more free throw attempts.

They're Free: After getting off to a slow start at the charity stripe, the Highlanders have made 46 of their last 57 free throws (80.7) over the past four games. Radford converted 15-of-16 on Thursday vs. Navy, including all 12 in the second overtime, which put the game away. As of December 11, the Highlanders ranked fifth in the Big South with a 68 percent free throw percentage, while their 132 free throws made are the fourth-most in the conference.

Everyone Plays: The Highlanders have used six different starting lineups in 11 games. Once again, their leading scorer (Joi Williams) came off the bench. Radford's leading scorer has come off the bench in nine of 11 games. Ten players are averaging over 10 minutes of action per game, and all 14 players have logged in at least a few minutes this season. Williams is the only player averaging over double digits per contest (10.7), while Georgia Simonsen is the only player averaging over five rebounds per game (5.5).

Chase to 200: Head Coach Mike McGuire added win No. 198 in his career last week. He is trying to become the first coach in Radford basketball history and the sixth in Big South women's basketball history to reach 200 career wins. He became the winningest coach in program history with his 194th win on November 11 in a 59-50 triumph over Loyola Maryland.

Scouting Ohio: The Bobcats (4-3) have nearly equaled their win total from last season, after finishing 6-23 overall during the 2024-25 campaign. They average 69.4 points per contest and shoot 38.4 percent from the field. The Bobcats are balanced, with their three leading scorers each averaging around 11 points per game. They are led by junior guard Bailey Tabeling. From the hometown of music legend John Cougar Mellencamp, the Seymour, Ind. native has scored in double figures three times this season, including 19 against Wright State and 17 in the win vs. UIC.
