Williams Earns Big South Player of the Week Honor

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Joi Williams has been named Big South Player of the Week after helping lead the Highlanders passed Navy, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Williams recorded a career-high 36 points in Thursday's 2 OT win over Navy, 97-84, scoring 27 points in the second half or later. The junior led Radford's rally after trailing by 17 in the third quarter. She hit a fade-away game-tying three-pointer with three seconds left in the first overtime to force a second. It was the most points scored by a Radford individual since Shannan Wilkey dropped 36 against UNC Greensboro in 1994. Williams' total is the most points scored in a game by a Big South player this season. She also tied a career high with six made three-pointers.

The preseason All-Big South First Team honoree joins freshman Georgia Simonsen as the second player to win an in-season conference award this season. This is Williams' first Big South Player of the Week award and fourth weekly conference award after being named freshman of the week three times during the 2023-24 campaign.

The Highlanders are back in action on Saturday, December 13th, where they'll host Ohio at 3:00 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+, while you can also listen to all Radford women's basketball games on WRAD 1460 AM.
