KEY STORYLINES
Last Time Out: The Highlanders finished 1-2 at the CSU Invitational, held at the Woodling Gymnasium on the campus of Cleveland State University over the Thanksgiving holiday. They knocked off Valparaiso, 68-61, to begin the round-robin tournament, with Cate Carlson's 15 points leading the charge offensively. The Highlanders also forced 25 turnovers in what was their third-straight win. On Friday, Radford managed to erase an early 14-point deficit, but a cold stretch in the fourth quarter led to a 55-45 loss to St. Bonaventure. The Highlanders did everything but win on Saturday in a 62-59 overtime loss to host Cleveland State.

Nice(ly) Done: Sophomore guard Angelina Nice was named to the CSU Invite All-Tournament Team after her performance across the entire week. Her defensive efforts helped the Highlanders take a win against Valparaiso, swiping six steals with six rebounds in the seven-point win. On Saturday, Nice was nearly perfect from the floor, sinking five-of-six shots with three trifectas in the overtime loss to Cleveland State.

In the Details: With Saturday's loss, the Highlanders fall to 0-4 in road games…5-2 against non-power opponents…1-4 when scoring less than 60 points…1-4 when opponent scores 60 or more points…0-1 in overtime…0-4 when trailing at halftime…3-2 when making more 3-pointers than opponent…1-3 when opponent controls points in the paint…2-3 in games decided by 10 points or less…1-4 when opponent has more free throw attempts.

Defense on Lock: As of December 2, Radford holds the top defense in the Big South, allowing just 60.2 points per contest. Opponents are shooting 36.6% against the Highlanders (2nd best in the Big South) and 26.4% from behind the arc (3rd best in the Big South). The Highlanders held Cleveland State, a team receiving votes in the Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll, to a season-low 62 points despite the overtime period. They've held opponents to less than 60 points in half of their games this season.

Everyone Plays: The Highlanders opened with their sixth different starting five in 10 games on Saturday. Despite this, their leading scorer, Angelina Nice (13 points), came off the bench. Radford's leading scorer has come off the bench in eight of 10 games. Ten players are averaging over 10 minutes of action per game, and all 14 players have logged in at least a few minutes this season. Freshman Amanda Mitchell played some key minutes late in the first half against the Vikings and added her first basket of the campaign.

Chase to 200: Head Coach Mike McGuire added win No. 197 in his career on Wednesday. He is trying to become the first coach in Radford basketball history and the sixth in Big South women's basketball history to reach 200 career wins. He became the winningest coach in program history with his 194th win on November 11 in a 59-50 triumph over Loyola Maryland.

Scouting Navy: The Midshipmen enter Thursday's contest at 5-2 and are receiving votes in the mid-major poll. Like Radford, they are coming off a tough overtime loss, theirs at the hands of Duquesne in the Navy Classic. Navy was picked to win the Patriot League by the head coaches in the preseason. On the court, they are led by junior Zanai Barnett-Gay, who enters averaging 17.7 points per game. She entered the season as the Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year and is on the USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale Player of the Year preseason watch list.
