Women’s Track & Field sets another school record, drops two all-time bests and 11 personal records to close Liberty Open

COMPLETE MEET RESULTS

LYNCHBURG, Va. – No this isn't a typo or a copy and paste from past days of competition. The truly historic start to the indoor season rolled right on for the Radford women's track & field program as the Highlanders ended the final day of the Liberty Open with yet another school record, two all-time top 10 performances and 11 personal bests on Saturday.

Through their first six meets of the campaign, Radford student-athletes have combined to either set or reset three school records, 19 showing in the all-time top 10 in school history and 72 personal records as the squad is really hitting its stride right before championship season.

NOTABLES
- The highlight of the day once again went to the 4x400-meter relay squad of Raichelle Cornelius, Jordan Jackson, Jaslyne Robinson and Jeylah Hamrick as the group blazed the track to reset their school record from just a week ago with a top time of 3:49.97. To go with being a school best mark, the showing is also ranked second overall in the Big South and 310th out of all relay squads in NCAA Division I.
- Hamrick wasn't done there as she also won the 400-meter dash at 55.88. The time was a personal record and second-fastest time ever ran in the event in program history. Hamrick is now ranked second in the conference and 253rd in the nation.
- The 400-meter crew was on fire in general as both Jackson (58.26) and Robinson (59.03) set personal bests in the event. The duo is now ninth and 13th overall in the Big South, respectively.
- Sienna Bailey got the day started with a second-place finish in the mile. She crossed the line with a personal best of 5:01.18. Megan Cash was just behind her in ninth with another huge personal record of 5:09.26. The two times are ranked ninth and 15th in the conference.
- Bailey also placed third in the 3,000-meter final for her second podium finish of the day. She finished the race with a personal best of 9:57.50, a mark that ranks sixth in the Big South.
- In her indoor debut, Kate McLearen dropped a personal best of 2:16.26 to claim seventh overall. The performance improved her to fifth in the conference in the event.
- Makayla Nelson tied her season best and personal record in the high jump to finish 10th overall. She posted a best leap of 1.57m (5'-1 ¾"), a showing that is slotted in at fourth in the Big South.
- Kayla Fields (mile), Sylvia Hemmer (800) and Mackenzie Brownrigg (3000) also posted personal best performances on the final day of competition.
