CHARLOTTE – After yet another performance for the record books,
Sienna Bailey was named the Big South Conference Women's Track & Field Co-Freshman of the Week after her standout showing at The Hill City Twilight this past weekend.
Bailey placed second overall in a stacked field in the 5000-meter run. She dropped a personal best time of 16:50.64, a mark that is ranked fifth overall in the conference.
To go with being a top five time in the Big South, the showing is also the second-fastest time ran in the event in school history.
It is the third time during the track & field campaign that Bailey has been awarded with a weekly conference honor. The Collinsville, Virginia native also swept both the Athlete of the Week and the Freshman of the Week awards back on February 27 during the indoor season.
Bailey and the Highlanders have their full attention on championship season with the upcoming 2025 Big South Outdoor Championships, set for Monday, May 12 through Wednesday, May 14 at Karl Straus Track in Asheville, North Carolina.
