Williams, Carlson, Traylor-Walker, and Brown All Take Home All-Conference Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Tuesday afternoon that Joi Williams (first team), Cate Carlson (honorable mention), Adelyn Traylor-Walker (all-freshmen) and Kirby Brown (all-academic) had all earned spots on the conference's postseason awards lists.

Earning a spot on the all-conference first-team, Williams stepped into a major leadership role during her sophomore season, scoring double figures in 13 of 16 conference games while shooting 48% overall and 40% from three-point range, both best in the Big South. Averaging 14.5 ppg, which ranks top five among all conference student-athletes, Williams scored a career-best 23 points to help earn a pivotal win against Longwood.

Williams has also led Radford's scoring efforts 10 times this season and led the team in assists 11 times. Her 2.8 apg in conference play also ranks in the top 5 for the Big South. Williams started in all 29 games with a total of 348 points (12.0 ppg), 71 assists (2.4 apg) and 37 steals (1.3 spg). Her three-point shooting performance this season led the Highlanders to shattering the previous single season program record.

Earning the honorable mention nod in her debut season as a Highlander, Carlson has been a pivotal transfer into the Highlanders' program this year ranking 11th in the conference with 11.1 ppg against Big South opponents and scoring double figures in 10 of 16 games.  Carlson's three-point shooting helped Radford set a single-season program record during the 2024-25 campaign and her individual total ranked top 10 in the Big South.

Carlson has also led Radford's scoring efforts eight times this season, setting season highs of 19 points in victories over Charleston Southern and UNC Asheville. She has also started in all 29 games she played, becoming a pivotal part of the team's offense for totals of 287 points (9.9 ppg) and 47 threes (1.6 pg).

Traylor-Walker stepped up in a big way during her debut season with the Highlanders and earned the nod onto the conference's all-freshmen team. The Franklin, Ind., native shot with great efficiency at 41% overall (best among Big South freshmen), 35% from three (also best among Big South freshmen), while her 7.1 points per game against conference opponents also ranked second. Her points (6.5 ppg) and assists (1.7 apg) both rank second among all Big South freshmen.

Traylor-Walker was named the conference's freshman of the week twice throughout the season. Against Big South opponents, she scored in double figures three times including wins against Charleston Southern and UNC Asheville. During the season, she eventually earned a role in the starting lineup for 14 starts, 12 of which came during Big South play.

Taking home the team's all-academic nod was Brown who has earned a 3.79 GPA while majoring in sports management. She also serves as a member of the athletic department's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). On the court, she has moved into a bigger role this season especially during Big South play. Brown helped lead Radford to a win at Presbyterian with seven points and four rebounds, both career highs while coming off the bench to shoot 52%.

The Highlanders are currently preparing for the Big South Tournament which kicks off on Thursday, March 6th with the quarterfinals. Radford, the third seed, will take on sixth-seeded Gardner-Webb at 8:30 p.m. in Johnson City, Tenn., with all the action streamed on ESPN+.
