Walsh Earns First Big South Weekly Honor of the Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Abby Walsh has been named the Freshman of the Week after her goal lifted the team to a 2-1 victory over Morehead State.

Walsh played hero in the Highlanders lone match of the week against Morehead State. Against last year's Ohio Valley NCAA Tournament representative, the newcomer netted the game winner from outside the box. The score was her second goal of the season coming in the 73rd minute to give Radford the 2-1 victory.

Marking the first weekly honor for a Highlander this season, the award also marks the ninth straight season that a women's soccer freshman has earned a weekly award.

The Highlanders are currently preparing for their final bout of nonconference action. Radford will visit ETSU on Thursday, September 11th for a 7 p.m. start.
