Ladd Earns First Weekly Big South Award for the Highlanders

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Raymond Ladd has been named the Starting Pitcher of the Week after a commanding performance against VMI that saw the Highlanders pick up a 9-4 victory.

Raymond Ladd is off to a strong start in his 2026 campaign after his 2025 season was cut short by injury. Continuing to build back his workload, Ladd took another significant step forward in game one of the Highlanders' series against VMI. He delivered a season-high six innings, allowing five hits while striking out a season-best seven batters. The Big South's top draft prospect is proving exactly why he's earned that distinction, and he looks poised to keep trending upward as the season progresses.

This marks the first weekly award for the Highlanders this season and first starting pitcher nod since the 2022 campaign. This is also the first weekly award for Ladd in his career.

The Highlanders are currently preparing for a mid-week game against James Madison. It's the second game this season against the Dukes, with the previous match up seeing the Highlanders take a 4-2 victory. The first pitch is scheduled for Tuesday, March 23^rd, at 4:00 p.m. with all the action streaming on ESPN+.
