Quintana’s Stellar Outing Earns Him Starting Pitcher of the Week Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Radford pitcher Daniel Quintana has been named the league's Starting Pitcher of the Week after tossing 6.2 scoreless innings and earning the win on Sunday versus Gardner-Webb.

Quintana delivered a dominant outing in Radford's 3–0 win over the Runnin' Bulldogs. He allowed just two hits while facing 25 batters, holding opponents to a .091 average. He carried a no-hit bid into the seventh inning before surrendering his first knock with two outs. With relief support from Trey Ludy, the duo combined for a shutout. The performance proved pivotal for the Highlanders, lifting them into a tie for fourth place in the conference and putting them firmly in control of their own destiny for the Big South Tournament.

This is the fourth weekly award for the Highlanders this season and the first one for Quintana. All four of the weekly awards for the Highlanders have been won by pitchers, showing off the improvements they have made to the staff this season.

The Highlanders are currently preparing for a mid-week game against the Davidson Wildcats. First pitch is scheduled for April 21st with the first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with the game being streamed on ESPN+.
