SUNSET BEACH, N.C. -- Megan Leineweber (Salisbury, Md.) finished tied for 27th and the Highlander women's squad placed 14th at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate Sunday afternoon.
Following Leineweber on the individual leaderboard was
Hannah Coles (Coleshill, Birmingham, England), who tied for 32nd with a three-day total of 236 (82-75-79). Despite finishing tied for 72nd with teammate
Jade Okamoto (Huntington Beach, Calif.),
Brittany Hine (Elkton, Va.) carded the Highlanders' lowest final round with a five-over 77.
Also competing for the women's team was
Maggie Watts (Paris, Ky.), who concluded the annual event at 248 (86-79-83).
East Tennessee State posted a final round score of 298 to win the team title, finishing seven strokes ahead of the competition with a total score of 905 (309-298-298). The Lady Bucs' Laura Jansone posted a three-round score of 216 to claim individual medalist.
The women's squad returns to the course Sept. 29-30 at the Charleston Southern Invitational, while the Highlander men will enjoy a lengthy break before heading to Charlottesville for the Liberty Invitational Oct. 13-14.
