Pair of Highlanders in Contention; Women's Golf Sits 4th at CSU Invite

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Hannah Coles (Coleshill, Birmingham, England) is just one stroke off the lead and Megan Leineweber (Salisbury, Md.) will enter the final round three shots back as the Radford women's golf team sits in fourth place following the opening round of the 2008 Charleston Southern Invitational Monday. The 36-hole event is being played on the par-72, 5,895-yard Coosaw Creek Country Club layout.
After carding a one-over 37 on the front side, Coles shot even-par on her inward nine to finish with a one-over 73, placing her in a tie for third entering the final round of competition. Like Coles, Leineweber fired a 36 on her final nine holes to find herself in a tie for seventh.

As a team, the Highlanders carded a 316, which is eight shots clear of Presbyterian and just five swings behind Bethune-Cookman, who sits alone in third place.

Radford's Maggie Watts (Paris, Ky.) shot an 83, while both Brittany Hine (Elkton, Va.) and Jade Okamoto (Huntington Beach, Calif.) opened with rounds of 85.

Tournament host Charleston Southern holds the top spot on the team leaderboard following a 300. Coastal Carolina will enter the final day five strokes behind the Lady Bucs.

Madison Jeter of Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina's Jessica Vincent are tied atop the individual standings at even par.

The final round of the 36-hole event will begin Tuesday morning.
