Juniors Pace Field Hockey in NorPac Road Win at Davidson

Junior Megan Lenhardt tallied her first collegiate goal

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Radford scored two early goals and junior keeper Jen Wisniewski (Centreville, Va./Westfield) made six saves as the Highlanders picked up a 3-1 road win in NorPac action at Davidson, Wednesday evening.

Juniors Megan Lenhart (Gloucester, Va.), Kay Tufts (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) and Lara Cariker (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) each put one in the cage for the Highlanders.

Radford jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Lenhardt and Tufts in the first 15:21 of the match. Lenhardt put the Highlanders on the board, slamming home a direct corner shot at 9:21. It was the Gloucester High School product's first goal of her collegiate career.

Exactly six minutes later, Tufts took a center from sophomore Madonna Wadolowski (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McManhon) and one-timed it into the right side of the cage. It was Tufts' fourth goal of the season and Wadolowski's team-leading fifth helper.

Wisniewski kept the Wildcats (4-10, 0-3 NorPac) off the board making four of those saves in the first half. She was also helped out by sophomore Ellie Staples (Newport News, Va./Menchville), who recorded her third defensive save of the season.

Her counterpart Christa Goeke stopped six shots for the Wildcats.

An early offensive flurry by Davidson led to a corner its first goal. The Wildcats cut it one on Finley Amato's tally early in the second half. After the ball was centered to Claire Perry, she dished it to a wide-open Amato in the 40th minute.

Cariker gave Radford a two-goal cushion in at 51:43. On the Highlanders' 11th corner of the match, she ripped home a shot from the top right side of the circle off a feed from Lynsey Daughtrey (Suffolk, Va./Lakeland). It was sophomore's second assist of the match

The Highlanders out shot the Wildcats, 22-13 and finished the night with 14 corners to just six for Davidson. Tufts led the Highlanders with five shots. Goeke finished with 12 saves for Davidson.
