HIGHLANDERS TOPPED BY AGGIES, 4-2, IN NORPAC FIRST ROUND

BOX SCORE

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Radford field hockey fell behind 2-0 in the first half and could not recover as it fell to UC Davis, 4-2 in the first round of the NorPac Championship hosted by Liberty University on Thursday morning at LU Field Hockey Field.

The Highlanders (5-15) cut their deficit to one-goal twice, but the Aggies (6-12) were able to answer each time and hold on for the victory.

Freshman Morgan Ames and junior Kellen Keys collected their first collegiate goals for the Highlanders, while senior Alayna Versage and sophomore Stacey Mackintosh picked up the assists on each goal, respectively. Sidney Encarnacion made five saves.

Radford will face off against the loser of the Liberty/California matchup in a consolation game tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.

Sophia Lisiaus gave the Aggies a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute and she beat Encarnacion stick side from five yards out. With just under nine minutes, Cloey LemMon blasted one in on a corner for a 2-0 UC Davis lead.

Ames found the back of the cage with 2:41 left in the first half cutting their deficit to 2-1 and giving the Highlanders some momentum going into the break. On Radford's only corner of the half, she redirected Versage's shot from left into the near side of the cage.

Danielle Koehne gave the Aggies their two-goal advantage back in the 41st minute. The goal was set up by a nice feed from Agustina Singh to the far post for an easy redirect. It was Singh's second helper of the match

Following a UC Davis turnover, Keys scored in the 55th minute to get the Highlanders within, 3-2. She took a feed from Mackintosh and slammed it home from five yards.

However, the Aggies got an insurance goal with just over two minutes left as LemMon closed out the games' scoring.

The Aggies outshot the Highlanders, 11-6 and held a 6-3 advantage in corners.
