FIELD HOCKEY GEARS UP FOR UC DAVIS AT NORPAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Radford, the third seed in the East, opens NorPac Championship play in Lynchburg, Va. on Thursday, Nov. 7 against the west's second seed UC Davis. Scheduled start time is 11:00 am for the contest between the Highlanders (5-14, 3-5) and Aggies (5-12, 3-3) at Liberty Field Hockey Field.
  
LAST TIME OUT: Radford dropped its regular season finale on Saturday at Liberty, 3-0… After holding the high-powered Lady Flames offense scoreless for 38 minutes, the Highlanders surrendered three second-half goals.
 
A LOOK AT RU: The Highlanders lead the nation in defensive saves with 23, which is a program record… Senior Alayna Versage paces the Highlanders and the NorPac with nine, ranking her second in the NCAA… Junior Jordan Vrhovac and Jennifer Hedrick chipped in as well with six and four defensive stops, respectively… Sophomore Marianna Parker paces the offense with seven goals and 15 points… Sophomore Stacey Mackintosh has added three goals and junior Ashton Cox has dished out three assists.
 
NORPAC HISTORY: The Highlanders are 14-15 in tournament games since joining the conference in 2001… RU is 6-6 in first round matches, including a 2009 victory over the Aggies… They are the first team (2003) and only one of two East division programs to play for the Championship.
 
THE AGGIES: UC Davis clinched second place and the second seed out of the west following a 3-2 win over Pacific on Friday… Jamie Garcia, Clowey LemMon and Danielle Koehne have each scored a team-high five goals… Garcia and LemMon have recorded six and five assists, respectively.
 
THE SERIES: Radford has won the only two meetings with UC Davis both coming in the 2009 season… The Highlanders won 2-1 in the regular season and then 2-0 in the first round of the NorPac Tournament.
