FARMVILLE, Va. – Melissa Strickland's goal 5:57 into the first overtime lifted Longwood past Radford, 4-3, in a competitive NorPac East match, Friday evening from the Athletics Complex.

Just after each keeper kept their respective teams in the game with a few big saves in overtime, Strickland, from just inside the circle hit a low shot past a screened
Jen Wisniewski (Centreville, Va./Westfield) for the game-winner.
The Lancers (8-7, 3-1 NorPac) were also aided by a Kimberly Sullivan defensive save on a Radford (8-8, 4-1) scoring chance 30 seconds in.
Wisniewski made 12 saves, including four in the extra session, tying a career and season-high. Erin Bollinger stopped five shots with four coming in the second half.
In a frantic final three minutes of regulation, Longwood took a 3-2 lead on Strickland's first goal of the match with 2:43 left on the clock. Just 36 seconds later, sophomore
Niamh Connolly (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) sent the match into overtime.
After a great run by classmate
Madonna Wadolowski (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon), Connolly one-timed her centering pass into the back of the cage. It was Wadowlowski's team-leading seventh helper.
After falling behind 10 minutes into the match, Radford took advantage of its only two shots, scoring a pair of corner goals to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Wisniewski also helped out, making five saves in the first period as Longwood took nine shots with six of them on goal. The Lancers also held a 5-3 advantage in corners.
Julia Hernandez put the Lancers on the board at 9:25 when her shot deflected off a Radford stick and scooted into the left side of the cage.
The Highlanders pushed forward and took advantage of their first corner of the match.
Lara Cariker (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) tallied the equalizer when her shot from the top the circle, skipped up and over the keeper at 13:10. It was the junior's fourth goal of the season. Sophomore

Kay Tufts (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) assisted on the goal.
After surviving a flurry of Longwood corners, Radford earned its third and final corner of the half 11 minutes following the tying goal. This time, sophomore
Marlee Schramm (Mantua, N.J./West Deptford) took the insert from sophomore Daughtrey and ripped a low shot just inside the near post for a 2-1 lead in the 25th minute.
The Lancers tied the match at 2-2 in the 45th minute when Christina Verhult redirected Hernandez's shot far post.
Longwood out shot Radford 21-12 and held a slight advantage in corners, 7-6.
Radford wraps up conference play on Sunday, Oct. 25 at Appalachian State. The Highlanders can clinch at least a tie for the regular season with a victory. Match time is 1 p.m.
