RADFORD, Va. – Radford scored three unanswered second half goals, two by sophomore
Marlee Schramm (Mantua, N.J/West Deptford) to surge by Appalachian State, 4-1, in a NorPac East tilt, Wednesday evening from RU Field Hockey Field.

Schramm finished the evening with a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the 46th minute, and also assisted on Radford's first score.
On the night, Radford (6-6, 2-0 NorPac East) out shot Appalachian State (6-7, 1-1), 23-7 and recorded 15 corners, while allowing just two. The Highlanders took advantage of their corners, scoring their first three goals on those set pieces.
In the second half, Schramm broke the 1-1 deadlock at 45:44, ripping a shot from the left side of the circle off the top to the keeper's pads and into the cage.
The Highlanders added some insurance in the final 11 minutes. Junior

Megan Lenhardt's (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) blast into the far post to make it 3-1 in the 60th minute.
With 2:29 left in the match, Schramm rifled a penalty stroke into the left side of the cage for the final goal of the match. Schramm know has three goals on the season.
Radford started strong, immediately pressuring the Appalachian State defense. It paid off when the Highlanders earned one of their four first half corners in the ninth minute. Sophomore
Courtney Poole (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) tipped a Scramm shot into the roof of the cage for an early 1-0 lead at 8:32.
The Mountaineers tied it at 17:40 when Jessie Harris beat an on-rushing
Jen Wisniewski (Centreville, Va./Westfield) sweeping a low shot from the top of the circle through her pads.
Wisniewski finished with four saves, while her counterpart Bridgette Street made 11 saves for the Mountaineers.
Radford heads to Chapel Hill, N.C. to face No. 9 Boston College on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. The Eagles are the fourth nationally ranked opponent the Highlanders will have faced this season.
