Round One Results
PINEHURST, N.C. – After nearly five weeks away from tournament action, the Radford women's golf team carded a 322 Monday afternoon and sits tied for 12th following round one of the 2009 Pinehurst Challenge hosted by the College of Charleston.
The 36-hole event is being played on the Par 72, 5,994-yard Pinehurst #6 layout.
Junior
Hannah Coles (Birmingham, England / The Coleshill School) led the Highlanders on day one with a seven-over 79, which puts her in a tie for 33rd.
Seniors
Megan Leineweber (Salisbury, Md. / Parkside) and
Maggie Watts (Paris, Ky. / Paris) are one back of Coles in a tie for 39th, while
Jade Okamoto (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Marina) and
Amy McCollum (Pittsford, N.Y. / Pittsford) opened with rounds of 83 and 84, respectively.
College of Charleston holds the top spot on the team leaderboard following a 291, which is five strokes clear of second-place Western Carolina and seven ahead of Morehead State.
Ainhoa Nogales (College of Charleston) and Lucia Fernandez (Jacksonville) share the individual lead at two-under par.
Despite their spot in the team standings, the Highlanders are just six strokes out of the Top 10.
The second and final round will be played Tuesday.
