Final Round Results
PINEHURST, N.C. – The Radford University women's golf team capped their four-tournament fall campaign with a 12th place finish at the 2009 Pinehurst Challenge hosted by the College of Charleston.
The 36-hole event was played on the Par 72, 5,994-yard Pinehurst #6 layout.
Junior
Hannah Coles (Birmingham, England / The Coleshill School) led the Highlanders on the individual leaderboard with a two-day total of 155 (79-76).
Senior
Megan Leineweber (Salisbury, Md. / Parkside) finished two back of Coles in a group at 157 (80-77), while
Jade Okamoto (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Marina) came home in a tie for 47th.
Also competing for the Highlanders were
Maggie Watts (Paris, Ky. / Paris) and
Amy McCollum (Pittsford, N.Y. / Pittsford), who finished tied for 57th and 66th, respectively.
College of Charleston (291-293=584) held on to its overnight lead to claim the team title by eight strokes over Western Carolina.
Despite shooting a second-round total four strokes higher than her opening round, Lucia Fernandez (Jacksonville State) took home individual medalists with a 36-hole total of even-par 144 (70-74).
Along with setting a single-round scoring record, the Highlanders recorded a pair of Top-5 finishes, including a second-place showing at the Draper Valley Intercollegiate this fall.
Radford will enjoy a four-month break before teeing off its 2010 spring slate at the Low Country Intercollegiate March 13-14 in Hilton Head, S.C.
