BLACKSBURG, Va.—Three straight singles wins at the top helped Radford to a 4-3 win over Gardner-Webb Sunday morning in women's tennis action at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
The Highlanders improve to 9-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Runnin' Bulldogs drop to 7-14 overall and 0-3.
Ally Spector (Laurel, Md. /Reservoir) and
Mia Drobnjak (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska gimnazija) used strong serves and precise volleys to give the Highlanders an early 1-0 advantage.
Radford's duo of
Petra Dajevic (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska gimnazija) and
Ivana Tomaic ( Zagreb, Croatia/Third Gymnasium) pushed their winning streak to five with an 8-3 win over Laura Kriett and Rita Gouveia.
In singles competition, Tomaic used pinpoint accuracy and powerful grounds strokes to defeat Rita Gouveia and give the Highlanders their fifth win in six matches. Dajevic continues to roll in singles competition as she defeated Laura Kriett in straight-sets to run her streak to five straight.
Radford will be back in action Saturday, March 21 at 1:00 p.m. against conference foe Presbyterian.
