ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Radford's seven match winning streak was snapped at the hands of UNC Asheville this afternoon in a 5-2 setback at the UNCA Tennis Courts.
The Highlanders drop to 11-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while the Bulldogs improve to 9-6 and 2-3.
Radford was unable to take advantage of the doubles portion, dropping two of the three contests to fall behind 1-0.
The lone doubles win came at the No. 2 position with
Ally Spector (Laurel, Md. /Reservoir) and
Mia Drobnjak (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska giminazija) defeating Devon Cavanaugh and Louise Bottomley, 8-4.
In singles action, the Highlanders faltered dropping four out of the six matches. Drobnjak carried her doubles momentum over to the singles side as she recorded at straight-set victory over Stephanie Schon, 6-2, 6-2.
Petra Dajevic (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska giminazija) battled back from a 5-0 deficit in the first set to win in straight sets and extend her winning streak to eight straight.
Radford will be back in action Wednesday, April 1 at 1:00 p.m. against in-state rival Longwood.
