Women’s Golf Caps Regular Season with 3rd Place Showing; Coles Finishes 4th

FINAL RESULTS

FARMVILLE, Va. –
Highlighted by Hannah Coles' (Birmingham, England/The Coleshill School) fourth place finish and four Top-25 showings, the Radford women's golf team placed tied for third at the 2009 Tina Barrett Invitational hosted by Longwood University.

The 54-hole event was played on the Par 72, 6,076-yard Manor Golf Resort layout.

Coles carded a final round four-over 76 to finish with a two-day total of 232 (75-81-76) and her fourth top-five finish of the 2008-09 campaign.

Megan Leineweber
(Salisbury, Md./Parkside) concluded the event tied for 14th with two others, while Maggie Watts (Paris, Ky./Paris) matched her spring-low of 79 to place a season-best 20th.

Playing in just her third event of the season, Radford's Amy McCollum (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford) came home in a tie for 24th after firing a personal best 79 Tuesday. Because she competed as an individual, McCollum's score didn't count towards the team total.

Also competing for the Highlanders were Jade Okamoto (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina) and Brittany Hine (Elkton, Va.), who ended up tied for 27th and 34th, respectively.

As a team, Radford finished tied with Methodist, but the Highlanders were awarded the third-place trophy based on a tiebreaker. Radford fired the day's third lowest score to finish with a 54-hole total of 981 (333-328-320).

This afternoon's finish marks the third time this season the Highlanders have placed fifth or better.

Longwood claimed the team title and the top three spots on the individual leaderboard.

The Highlanders will enjoy a two-week break before returning to action at the 2009 Big South Championship April 13-15 in Greenwood, S.C.
