ROCK HILL, S.C. – No. 6 Radford fell to No. 3 Charleston Southern 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2009 Big South Women's Tennis Championships Thursday afternoon at Memorial Courts on the Winthrop University campus. 

The Highlanders conclude their 2009 spring 12-10 overall, while CSU improves to 6-9 and will take on second-seeded Liberty in the semifinals Friday. 

Just like their match 11 days ago in Radford, Charleston Southern won the tightly contested doubles portion to grab an early 1-0 advantage. 

After the Buccaneers' top duo of Andrea Schutte and Angie Torres cruised to an 8-1 victory, the Highlanders battled back from early deficits to tie the score on courts two (7-7) and three (6-6). CSU broke the deadlock and secured the doubles point thanks to Marija Dzakovic and Olga Makhova's 9-7 win over RU's tandem of Mia Drobnjak (Zagreb, Croatia / Sportska gimnazija ) and Ally Spector (Laurel, Md. / Reservoir). 

The Highlanders' Petra Dajevic (Zagreb, Croatia / Sportska gimnazija ) and Christina Hammond (Charles Town, WV. / Jefferson) took a 7-6 lead in the final match before the doubles portion was clinched. 

Torres put Charleston Southern up 2-0 with a straight-set win (6-4, 4-3) over Spector and the Buccaneers later sealed the match with triumphs from Brooke Pletcher and Dzakovic at positions three and four, respectively. 

Despite the setback, Radford's Emerald Lauzon (Bristol, Va./John S. Battle) was up a set in the No. 6 singles match when the dual was called.
