RADFORD, Va.-- Charleston Southern defeated Radford 7-0 in Big South women's tennis action Sunday at the RU Tennis Courts.

The Highlanders dropped to 12-7 and 2-4 in conference, while the Buccaneers improved to 5-8 and 4-2. 

The match opened with tightly contested doubles matches. The Highlanders lost 8-2 at the one spot but the real excitement came from the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Mia Drobnjak (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska gimnazija) and Ally Spector (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) dueled courageously as the momentum kept shifting back and forth between each point but ended up dropping the set in a tiebreaker, 9-8. 

The lone Radford win came in similar fashion. Petra Dajevic (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska gimnazija) and Christina Hammond (Charles Town, W.Va./Jefferson) outlasted Brooke Pletcher and Leonie Mandelkow to take the set, 9-8 

In singles action, the Highlanders faltered dropping all six matches. Ivana Tomaic (Zagreb, Croatia/Third Gymnasium) and Spector each went three sets. Spector won the first set but dropped the next two while Tomaic won her first set in a tiebreaker before dropping the next two as well. 

Radford will be back in action Thursday, April 9 at 2:30 a.m. against James Madison.
