CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Junior
Olajuwon Jones (Indianapolis, Ind./Speedway) ran for a new school 400m record and finished in first place to highlight Radford track & field's day of competition at the UNC Elite Meet on Friday.
Jones, who set the school's new 400m time at the Big South Championships, ran in 47.24 to top the field. He bested a field of four sprinters that came in with sub-47 second seeds.
In the 200m dash, Jones ran 21.91 to finish 11th among collegiate athletes.
Freshman Aimee Veatch (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring), the Big South's 2009 women's hammer throw champion, posted a second-place mark of 52.80m (173-03).
Junior
Raschad Kelso (Appomattox, Va./Appomattox) finished seventh among attached athletes in the 400m with a time of 48.14.
Freshman
Bryan Wallace (Millers Tavern, Va./Essex) was eighth among collegiate athletes with a long jump mark of 6.94m (22-09).
