Leineweber Climbs into T-10th, Women's Golf Moves up a Spot to Eighth

ROUND TWO SCORES

GREENSBORO, N.C. –
For the fifth consecutive round to begin the 2009 fall campaign, Megan Leineweber (Salisbury, Md. / Parkside) paced the Radford women's golf team carding a three-over 74 Monday to move into a tie for 10th after 36 holes of the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic.

The three-day / 54-hole event hosted by UNC Greensboro is being played on the Par 71, 6,265-yard Starmount Forest layout.

As a team, the Highlanders carded a 315 to move into eighth place, just five strokes behind conference-foe Winthrop, which sits at 629 (317-312).

Sophomore Jade Okamoto (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Marina) is tied for 34th at 157 (78-79), while Hannah Coles (Birmingham, England / The Coleshill School) and Amy McCollum (Pittsford, N.Y. / Pittsford) recorded rounds of 81 Monday.

Campbell's Mary Mattson extended her 18-hole lead to five strokes over UNCW's Ashley Tait following a two-under 69, the only sub-par round through 36-holes.

Like Mattson, the Fighting Camels stretched their advantage thanks to a 289 and will enter the final round five clear of UNC Greensboro and 20 swings in front of UNC Wilmington.

The final round of the annual event will begin Tuesday morning.
