Women’s Golf Claims Third-Place Finish at UNCG Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Radford women's golf program had a strong week at the UNCG Collegiate placing tied for third in a competitive field that saw three Highlanders place within the top 15 individually.

Leading the Highlanders' efforts was the senior Shea Smith who finished strong with a great second and third round to place tied for eighth overall individually. Smith recorded a pair of birdies to go 1-over to finish play on Monday before another strong showing Tuesday with three birdies that helped her post another 1-over performance.

Mckenzie Weddle had another strong showing for the Highlanders, thanks in part to an incredible second round showing. Bouncing back from round one, Weddle had the best round by any Highlander at the UNCG Collegiate at 3-under with six birdies. Weddle finished well, playing even through the third round to finish tied for 15th individually.

Tying at 15th individually with Weddle was Caroline Gilreath who used a strong start in round one to pace her showing at the UNCG Collegiate. The Roanoke, Va. native put forth a 1-over performance in round one with four birdies. Gilreath recorded seven more birdies over the final two rounds of play to finish 8-over overall.

Hannah Lindemann, playing individually, had one of her best showings of the year so far thanks to an impressive second and third round. Lindemann played near-even for most of the back two rounds, scoring seven total birdies to finish tied for 29th. Macy Johnson (T-35th) and Grace Addison (T-39th) rounded out the Highlanders scoring members.
