DRAPER, Va. – Along with carding a 36-hole school record of 597, the Radford women's golf team matched the 18-hole standard with a final round 298 Tuesday to finish second in the 2009 Draper Valley Intercollegiate.
The two-day event was played on the nearby Par 72, 5910-yard Draper Valley Golf Club layout.
Megan Leineweber (Salisbury, Md. / Parkside), who opened with a one-over 73, fired an even-par 72 this afternoon to tie her previous personal-best showing of third place. Radford's
Hannah Coles also finished the day with an even-par round to finish one back of Leineweber in fourth place at 147 (+2).
As a team, the Highlanders finished 14 strokes behind Western Carolina for their second runner-up finish in as many years. Gardner-Webb concluded the tournament 18 back of Radford in third place.

Maggie Watts (Paris, Ky. / Paris) came home in 11th, one ahead of sophomore
Amy McCollum (Pittsford, N.Y. / Pittsford), while
Jade Okamoto (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Marina) recorded a 36-hole total of 157 to place tied for 16th with two others.
Sophia Montenegro (Oakton, Va. / James Madison) and
Kelsey Lewis (Frankfort, Ky. / Western Hills) who were competing as individuals for Radford, recorded final rounds of 80 and 90, respectively.
Along with claiming the team title, Western Carolina's Josefine Sundh (-2) and Desiree Karlsson (-1) took home the top individual honors.
Radford will continue its five-event fall campaign Sept. 19-20 at the Great Smokies Invitational hosted by Western Carolina in Waynesville, N.C.
