CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior Jade Okamoto of the Radford women's golf team has been named the Choice Hotels Big South Women's Golfer of the Week for events played Sept. 30-Oct. 6, as announced by the league office Friday.

“I am very happy for Jade, this is a great honor for her,” commented third-year head coach Jeff Beeler. “I feel that she is as good as anybody that competes in the Big South and is sometimes overlooked but there is no doubt in my mind that she can compete with the best.”

Okamoto posted a runner-up finish at the Winthrop Intercollegiate (par 72, 5,900 yards) with a 6-over par 150 (73-77) to help Radford capture its second team title in school history. She matched her career-low with a 73 in the first round, while her second-place finish is a personal-best.

Okamoto posted just her second career top 10 finish and was the top finisher among the 24 Big South golfers in the event.

The Highlanders will return to the course at the Lady Pirates Invitational in Greenville, N.C. on Monday, Oct. 11.
