TOMAIC AND WOMEN’S TENNIS RANKED NATIONALLY IN ONE-ON-ONE DOUBLES

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's tennis team received national rankings in the 2010 Women's Collegiate Division I One-On-One Rankings for competing in the Stony Brook Invitational on September 16-19.

One-on-one doubles is a new innovative game that Ed Krass founded which is the first alternative, competitive format of singles and doubles; the entire game is cross court and can only use half the court. Also, you have to service and volley on every single point.

Ivana Tomaic is the first Highlander on the list. Ranked No. 13, Tomaic took home the Flight B one-on-one title of the Stony Brook Invitational by defeating Egzona Morina of Fairleigh Dickinson, 6-2 to secure the title.

In addition to Tomaic, junior Petra Dajevic is at the No. 27 spot, while freshman Mindy Pierett is ranked 67th.

Two spots behind Pierett is junior Mia Drobnjak (Zagreb, Croatia / Sportska Gimnazija), while Mirna Matic and Sara Tegner were tabbed 70th and 79th, respectively.

“This was something new to our team, it was fun yet beneficial and rewarding to receive national recognition,” commented 10th-year head coach Bruce Harrison.
