CONWAY, S.C. – Powered by a three-run seventh, Radford rallied from a two-run deficit and upended Coastal Carolina, 6-4 Sunday afternoon from CCU Softball Field. The victory extended the Highlanders' (29-10, 14-1 Big South) winning streak to 13 games.
In the seventh,
Nichole Beall led off with a double just inside the third base bag. Following a walk and a flyout, Creasy laced the game-tying double to the fence in right centerfield.
Meredith Moore lofted the game-winning sac fly to left plating
Sarah Himan. The Highlanders added an insurance run on a RBI single up the middle by
Michelle Beall.
Kellie Snooks got two quick outs in the seventh before Coastal recorded back-to-back singles. However, Snooks induced a shallow fly to left to end the game.
Snooks, who improved to 8-3, played a big part in the comeback with three innings of shutout relief. She scattered four hits and struck out one with no walks.
Creasy finished 3-for-4 with a double, triple, two RBI and two runs scored.
Nichole Beall was also 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored.
Creasy's two-out RBI single gave Radford an early 1-0 lead in the first.
The Chanticleers (20-24, 2-7) tied in the second on a run-scoring single by Cacia Pierre. With runners on first and second, her high fly ball to the fence in right center seemed to have been lost in the sun and dropped in safely.
Jazmin Daigle gave Coastal Carolina a 3-1 lead with a two-run home run in the third.
Himan answered with a leadoff home run in the top half of the fourth.
Coastal Carolina pushed its lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth on a RBI single by Michelle Evans.
Radford cut CCU's lead to one (4-3) when
Taylor Cunningham dropped in a RBI single to left with two outs in the sixth. Creasy scored on the play after leading off with a triple down the rightfield line.
Cunningham and
Shannon Keefe each registered two hits for the Highlanders, who recorded 13 on the day.
