KEEN NAMED BIG SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK; BASEBALL HOSTS ETSU TUESDAY

Radford right fielder Reggie Keen was named Big South player of the week for games played April 19-25, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

For the week, Keen batted .476 (10-for-21) in five games with eight runs scored, two home runs, six stolen bases, a .560 on-base percentage and a .762 slugging percentage.

In this past weekend's series at Winthrop, Keen went 6-for-13 with five RBIs, including 4-of-6 with a two-run homer in the 15-9 series-opening win.  Keen also stole three bases in the win and scored three times.  On Sunday, he hit his third homer of the season, and second of the series, in game one of Sunday's doubleheader, then stole a pair of bases in the second game and went 1-for-3 with two walks.

Keen opened the week going 3-for-4 with two runs scored against No. 20 Virginia Tech.

This season, Keen leads Radford with his .375 average, .469 on-base percentage, and 25 stolen bases.  His 25 steals are third in a single season in program history.

The Highlanders close a stretch of 11 games over 15 days on Tuesday, hosting East Tennessee State at 3 p.m.

Entering the week, Radford is winners in seven of the last nine games, including back-to-back road Big South series victories.

East Tennessee State is 4-6 in its last 10 games, and 6-7 on the road this season.   Paul Hoilman, the reigning Atlantic Sun conference player of the week, leads the league in batting average (.452), is second in homers (16) and third in RBIs (56).

Tuesday's meeting is the second this season between the two teams – on March 24, ETSU scored eight runs in the second and nine runs in the fifth, while hitting four homers en route to a 22-10 win over Radford.  Bo Reeder tied an ETSU school record with three home runs, and Hoilman added a solo blast.  Both teams combined to issue 24 walks (Radford 14, ETSU 10) and commit nine errors (Radford 5, ETSU 4).

Radford won the last meeting between the two at home, an 11-4 victory on April 8, 2009.
