GAME 1 BOX | GAME 2 BOX
RADFORD, Va. – After Charleston Southern blasted three homers in a 9-6 game one win, Radford rallied with 14 hits for a 9-3 game two win in a Big South baseball doubleheader on Saturday.
The Highlanders won the second game behind a six-inning performance from
Bobby Bolling, who struck out seven and allowed just one run on two hits for his first win (1-0).
“He's been a good guy in the final series games for us, and has kept us in every game,” head coach
Joe Raccuia said. “He's a mature kid, a veteran for us. Even though he's a first-year guy out of a JUCO program, he's a guy that's always in the strike zone, so he gives us a chance to win.”
Charleston Southern hit five home runs in the two games, including four solo homers. In game one, Tyler Thornburg pitched six strong innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out six to earn the win (5-1).
“The difference in the second game for us was we competed better at the plate,” Raccuia said. “It was a different mentality – we were winning, so our confidence was higher.
“We battled for some at-bats, got two-out hits, extended an inning, and we needed to do that. Charleston Southern did a good job this weekend and I'm glad we salvaged a game. There's a lot of work to be done, and our guys know that.”

With the Buccaneers up 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Thornburg gave up a leadoff single to Turner, who stole second to move into scoring position. But Turner got no farther, as Thornburg struck out the side to keep it a 1-0 Charleston Southern lead.
Charleston Southern added two runs in the second with two outs, following a fielding error at short that allowed Jon Matthews to score from third and make it a 2-0 lead. On the next play, Quattlebaum roped a double into the left field corner to bring home Matt Still and give the Buccaneers a 3-0 lead.

Turner singled home
Tyren Rivers in the fifth with two outs, trimming Charleston Southern's lead to 6-3, but the Buccaneers plated a run on a two-out wild pitch in the sixth to go back ahead by four.
Rivers, who had hits in both games, extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
