MORGANTON, N.C. – For the ninth time in 15 rounds this season,
Megan Leineweber led the Radford women's golf team in scoring as the two-time Big South Golfer of the Week sits tied for 10th after the opening round of the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate hosted by Western Carolina.
The 36-hole event is being played on the Par 72, 5,869-yard Mimosa Hills layout.
Leineweber made the turn in one-under before concluding day one with a four-over 76, just four strokes out of the individual lead.
Coming off a 12th place finish in her last outing, sophomore
Jade Okamoto is one back of Leineweber in a tie for 14th, while
Hannah Coles recorded a 78 and is currently tied for 24th.
Also competing for the Highlanders are
Sophia Montenegro and
Amy McCollum, who will enter the final round tied for 73rd and 76th, respectively.
As a team, Radford is tied for 10th, just eight strokes out of the top five.
Elon (305) leads Western Carolina (306) by one stroke, while Wofford's Sara Hunt holds the top spot on the individual leaderboard at even par (72).
The second and final round will begin Tuesday morning.
