RADFORD, Va. – Despite holding advantages in both shots and corners, a late first half goal by Davidson proved to be enough as Radford fell, 1-0 in a NorPac East battle Wednesday evening from RU Hockey Field.
In the 26th minute, Davidson (6-2, 1-0 NorPac East) took advantage of just its second shot and corner of the first half. Clare Perry ripped a low shot into the back of the cage for the game-winner. Gray Robinson and Annie Evans assisted on the lone goal of the match.
Wildcat keeper Sarah Fisher stymied the Highlanders (6-3, 0-1) making a game-high 10 saves, half of those coming prior to Perry's tally when Radford controlled much of the play and possession, earning eight corners and taking six of its seven first half shots.
Following the Perry goal, the Wildcats continued to pressure the Highlander defense, but they stood tall.
Jennifer Wisniewski stopped five shots in the final 3:30 of the first half.
Wisniewski would finish with eight saves, six in the first stanza. The Highlanders' defensive effort held Davidson to under three goals for the first time this season. For the game, Radford out shot Davidson, 14-10 and held a 14-7 advantage in corners, including 7-2 and 6-1 in the second half, respectively.

Madonna Wadolowski and
Courtney Poole whizzed just wide of the cage. Fisher also stopped all four attempts on goal, including two in the final minute of the contest.
Radford hits the road on Saturday, Sept. 25 for another NorPac matchup at Longwood at 2 p.m.
