Radford field hockey will close out the home portion of its schedule with a pair of key NorPac matches against Davidson on Friday and Longwood on Sunday. Special pregame recognitions will be featured in both matches, which will begin at 7 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
On Friday, the first-place Wildcats invade the New River Valley. Prior to the contest, Radford will recognize its 1991 squad, which hold school records for wins, goals, assists, points, shutouts and shots.
Davidson is coming off a defeat at Wake Forest on Tuesday, but has won five-of-seven contests. They are led by junior Finley Amato, who is tops on the team with eight goals, four assists and 20 points.
Senior
Melissa Register (Culpeper, Va./Culpeper) tops the Highlanders with six goals and two assists and is followed by classmate
Courtney Poole (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) with five scores.
Sunday's match will also be key as the Lancers are a game ahead of the Highlanders in second place and already own a 3-2 double overtime victory over Radford. In an annual tradition, Radford's senior class of seven will be honored before the contest as they will be playing their final regular season home game.
Along with Register and Poole, the senior class consists of
Madonna Wadolowski (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahan),
Niamh Connolly (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor),
Marlee Schramm (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) and
Ellie Staples (Newport News, Va./Menchville).
The Lancers have won five of their last six contests and are led by Stacey de Grandhomme's 10 goals which are good for second in the NorPac. In goal, Kay Goulding has been a stalwart posting a 1.80 GAA and .802 save percentage, ranking 26th and eighth in the NCAA, respectively.
The Highlanders head to Wake Forest on Tuesday to take on the Demon Deacons at 7 p.m.
