STANFORD, Calif. – Radford could not recover from a three-goal first half surge by Pacific and fell to the Tigers, 3-1, in a NorPac consolation match Friday evening from Stanford's Varsity Turf Field.
Courtney Poole (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) scored her seventh goal of the season for the Highlanders (7-13). With the two points, Poole finishes her career ranked fifth in both points (55) and goals (26).
For her efforts this weekend, Poole was named to the all-tournament team, capping off her four-year career in the red and white.
Pacific erupted for three goals, two by Melissa Maultsby, in a 7:12 span of the first half to take a commanding 3-0 lead into halftime. Maultsby opened the scoring pouncing on a loose ball and poking into the cage for a 1-0 lead in the 24
th minute.
Maultsby and Amanda Spellman added goals in the 27
th and 31
st minutes to close out the half's scoring. The Tigers (3-14) out shot the Highlanders 9-3 in the half with each team earning one corner.
Poole's goal, which came in the 48
th minute, cut the Tigers' lead to 3-1. However, Radford could not find the cage the rest of the way and Pacific held on for the victory.
